The orange witch, Atticus in tow, trotted along the forested mountain path toward the Citadel's cavern, placing one large but feminine hoof before the other, leaving crescent prints behind on the sod below. The white bird upon her fiery spine bobbed up and down with her movements, clutching with all talons, but not too tight as to harm his mistress.
The Empress's violet eyes were looking particularly stern today. She wasn't exactly upset, but she seemed to be expecting something obnoxious to happen. She hung her head a little lower than usual at this trot, letting her long, wavy tresses sway to and fro across her front limbs. The beastess's nares flared open and she took in a few calculative breaths, sampling the air. She rose her head high mid-step and smelled the wind once more. Her brow furrowed. There must be someone up ahead.
"Atticus," the Queen began, "Scout up ahead. I think I smell something." The bird obeyed immediately, taking flight and soaring above the tree line. Nirvana continued along the path at the same pace, watching for the ivory bird to come cascading back down through the foliage to report on who was nearby.

Mordras staggered with ragged breaths through the forest of the citadel. Blood dripped from the top right side of his visage, and fell from the edge of his jaw. he had been attacked by an ambush of equines that were grouping up. Vagrants, the whole lot of them had been. Mordras had wounds torn into his flesh, and a sprain in his front right leg. He was trying to drag himself to the safety of his home. Mordras gritted his teeth together with each step, using it as a way to deal with the waves of pain rolling through him. His tresses were caked in blood, and only some was his.
Each step got him closer, and he could feel the exhaustion setting in. Twigs snapped as he passed by the trees closely. Some of the lower twigs irritated the wounds as he snapped them off. He didn't care about such insignificant things, all he cared for was getting home. Mordras heaved heavy breaths as he pressed on. A sudden flicker of white caught his eye, and his teal gaze traveled upwards. That bird was the only white contrast he noticed against the deep green of the tree tops. The clouds were not nearly as pristine or precise as the vision of the bird. Mordras stumbled as he limped the direction the bird had come from.
An orange and onyx figure stood out against the horizon, following the line of the bird. Mordras grunted in pain as he kept moving. Nirvana's form and colours were unmistakable. Almost as much as his own. He moved faster, despite the pain and crimson dripping from his frame. Mordras broke the line of trees, clearly visible to the fiery empress. Mordras couldn't help but smile slightly as he approached her. "Empress." He greeted her as though he were in no pain. His words seemed effortless, despite his appearance. The onyx and ice coloured stag limped a few steps closer to his queen .He left enough distance between them so as to remain respectful of her space. The crimson liquid dripped over his right eye and obscured his vision only slightly. He blinked harshly to rid the film over his eye. "There seems to be trouble with some vagrants." He offered to her, not addressing his state.

Before long, the ivory bird soared back down through the tree line and glided along Nirvana's side as she continued to trot along the path, heavy hoof after heavy hoof. The bird cawed, and Nirvana glanced over to him with one violet eye to see a look of mild concern upon his visage. A greyed beast stepped forth from the trees, his bright oceanic tresses alerting the Queen that this is someone who resided within her kingdom. She didn't notice until she began to slow from her trot as she neared him that the stallion was beaten up quite a bit and seemed to be limping. Even in the absence of the former rulers, these lands were still rotten with violence. This was something Nirvana, as the Dark Empress, was prepared to deal with. The stallion spoke in terms too vague for Nirvana to direct her attention from the brute's condition. It was obvious that he was tough, coming to her in this state when he should be cleaning his wounds and resting. "I can smell the blood on you, stallion." The Empress had forgotten the brute's name, but for now she would address him however she pleased, confident that he wouldn't mind. "You're right to bring this information to me, but we must go to the cavern immediately. Your wounds are too grave for you to be stumbling through the woods like this." Nirvana, in a strange feat of compassion, stepped up to the stallion and looked at him from the side. She gave a snort and dipped her head a bit, offering to be his crutch up the rest of the mountain until they could reach the caverns.

Nirvana's frame paced evenly against the ground beneath their feet. Her own bodice was more muscularly built than his. Though Mordras bore feathering to reflect his draft lineage, it was nothing in comparison to the fiery empress. She addressed the blood, noting the stench of it immediately. Mordras assumed it wouldn't be overlooked. Yet she avoided his name, or perhaps forgot. He didn't mind either way. "Mordras." He corrected her politely. His blue gaze was locked on her now. Nodding as she indicated his information was valuable. Once more the empress addressed his wounds, and expressed urgency to get him away from the edges of the forest and the beasts that crept within, and to the caverns.
Nirvana offered him her support, and typically he would not allow such a thing. But it was rude to turn down a generous offer from a true leader. Mordras allowed Nirvana to aid his steps. The prominent limp was eased significantly even in the few steps he took to stand beside her. "I serve the dark kingdom. I will bid you any information I uncover if I believe it is useful. Your help is greatly appreciated. I will fight at your command once these wounds have healed. Assuming nobody else has torn their throats out by then." He muttered evenly. He had a to-the-point way of speaking, though many found it off-putting. "I apologize for any potential danger, or trouble I have caused. It is not my duty to bring trouble to our home, but to destroy it before it dares breath within." He snapped now, more frustrated that he'd gotten caught out.

He was a passionate stallion, this Mordras. The orange Queen was glad to have a brute like him in her ranks. "Mordras," Nirvana repeated the brute's name, making a mental note to remember it this time. The greyed stag leaned onto the brindled witch, and she began walking up the hill again, Atticus watching close by, now perched in a tree several paces up the mountain path. She could feel the stallion's weight, but Nirvana was stronger than most gave her credit for, and she was able to assist the stallion that was a bit taller than herself despite his size.
Nirvana let the stallion empty a little of his rage, but was more interested in the actual events that occurred. "What exactly happened to you?" She asked in a low, monotone voice, focusing the majority of her energy on hoisting the brute up the trail toward the caverns. "You said it was vagrants right? What do they want?" Nirvana cocked an ear toward the brute's head to hear his reply as clearly as possible.

With her assistance, each step was definitely less staggered. Pain was not something she could remove, only the pressure. Mordras was grateful to have her help, although he likely would never admit that aloud. Instead he always felt it better to prove his gratitude with actions and loyalty. "A group of four, maybe five ambushed me on my way home. I'm not sure they want something exactly, nor am I convinced they'll be a problem for awhile, and especially not if they should see my face again. Only two of them could walk on their own once I finished with them." He answered her finally. Mordras wasn't convinced they'd stay at bay very long, but he'd kept them from finding his home thus far.
It seemed like senseless violence to him, a group high on a power trip. He smirked as the pair moved towards the caverns. "I believe they're just a bunch of kids who think they hold some real power. Not that it won't be annoying for our kingdom to deal with. I'll keep an eye on them. I don't want them barging in here and causing more problems for us. While they might be at bay for awhile, I don't believe my actions were enough to stop their idiocy." Mordras explained finally. He didn't often go into detail, or say much to be honest, but he felt this was important. Mordras tended to be a quiet, observant soldier more often than not. The pair reached the caverns while they had been speaking, and he was relieved to see the maw of darkness to welcome them in.
"I will repay your aid in action. I believe it is more powerful than fading words, because at least then I may proof to back them up. Thank you."

Nirvana listened intently as Mordras explained what happened to him. A scowl spread darkly across the Empress's visage, clearly upset that Vagrants who were supposed to be living peacefully outside of kingdom rule would attack one of her own. This was undoubtedly something the Queen would have to deal with sooner or later. The pair reached the caverns and stepped inside. Nirvana released herself from the grey stallion, assuming he would make a move to lay down. A stream that flowed nearby would be sufficient for cleaning the brute's wounds.
"Guards!" The Queen yelled, calling any nearby subordinates. They approached immediately, awaiting orders. "Fetch this stallion some water, and send someone to tend to his wounds while he rests. He seems to have been in a scrap with some Vagrants." The guards nodded in unison and went about their business.
Nirvana turned her attention back to Mordras. "Your bravery and loyalty is greatly appreciated, soldier. We will move to deal with these pests as soon as possible. You stay here and get well." The orange Empress turned toward the mouth of the cave, thoughts racing through her mind of how she would even approach a band of Vagrants much less reprimand them for their actions.

NIrvana summoned the guards after they were most of the way to safety in the caverns. A rush of hooves thundered against the ground. Mordras peered at them without an expression on his face, although he noted Nirvana's. It was stricken with irritation and worry. Mordras stared at her too, but more with attention thatn stoicism. He allowed himself to sink to the ground to rest as the empress addressed the guards. He didn't want her making a fuss over him. The ebon stag listened to her carefully, and nodded in response. "If I am needed, do not hesitate to ask for me. I will still fight." He spoke with deep baritones. His words were chosen very deliberately.
The stag watched her turn, her face contorting once more as she turned. He couldn't make otut what troubled her, but he assumed it was this group of idiot kids. "Take care. But they too are injured. It shouldn't be much trouble, not for a few days at least." He called after her as he watched her moving.
